We have had nonstop rain for a few days now. The power went out when I was home alone with the kids yesterday. Aiden was in his room and went really quiet when it happened. I grabbed my cellphone and went looking for him, as soon as he saw me he yelled "Mum!" My poor little guy was startled, he's used to having his night light on in the dark. I really don't like rainy days, they completely throw everything off schedule. My husband is quite happy though, he loves the rain. Blegh...
Not to mention, I'm a baby when it comes to thunderstorms. Yes, mama is scared of the lights in the sky...go ahead have a laugh at my expense. For good reasons though, I have had two very scary experiences that both included a thunderstorm. The first, I was about eight-years-old... I had been playing with my best friend when out of nowhere the rain started. My sister was supposed to be watching me so she was yelling at me to get inside, but you know teenagers are always scary to little kids. Needless to say, I used to be terrified of her so I didn't go inside. I just stood in the outside hallway staring at her calling my name. Then the thunder started but instead of running inside, I stood there....frozen in fear. In fear of her & the thunder.
The second, I was in seventh grade I think. I was home alone this time. It had been raining all night & I was watching tv. The sky was dark, the rain was falling pretty hard & then I heard it... So I got under the blankets when all of a sudden I heard a loud *BANG* followed by a loud buzzing noise...and the lights went out. I poked my head out and from the window I could see a blue flash. I pulled the shades back and looked out, the palm tree across my house had been hit. Some of it's branches had fallen onto the utility pole and there were sparks everywhere followed by flames. It lasted a few minutes, until the branch finally loosened from the cable and fell to the street. Most people might have been a little shaken up, maybe even entertained. I was terrified.
That concludes my post for the day, pretty boring I know. Nothing much I can do stuck at home with a sick two-year-old & a fussy newborn. Good day to you & I hope we have a better one tomorrow!
